Scam!!!
I received it and my initial thoughts in the first ten seconds were: (1) but I don’t have a package coming from overseas 🤔 (2) oh wait, maybe Liam sent something to me! 🤩 (3) But he wouldn’t screw up the address 🤔
Then I kept reading, and really looked at that URL – they have designed it to to look like it’s coming from USPS.com – but wait! The domain is actually .top – nothing that a government or government-adjacent agency would ever use. Now I know it’s a scam.
But, just to be sure, I googled that phone number – it’s not a real phone number AND the area code is for Canada. Why is a Canadian number texting me about US Customs? (short answer: it’s a scam)
So! Please beware of things like this – it’s super easy to be distracted, only half-read the message, tell yourself that someone lovely is sending you a surprise…and then the next thing you know, your financial information is being sold on the dark web and you spend years fighting identity theft. Scammers are relying on you to be gullible and trusting – don’t let them get your information!!
Other formats of phone numbers: +1 (548) 441-5616 and 548-441-5616
